LTO Magnetic Tape Cartridge Certifier

The LTO Magnetic Tape Cartridge Certifier is an outstanding LTO magnetic tape cartridge system to evaluate and record defects. This machine automatically recognizes and adjusts the tension for LTO cartridges. It incorporates a ten cartridge autoloader processor and a separate control panel cabinet to enable the user to process and record a large amount of media information without remaining at the machine. The machine cleans and certifies at 200 ips. If the erase option is installed, erasure is accomplished at 120 ips.

The basic certification of the tape cartridge is completed in one pass. The tape is removed from the cartridge, threaded around four automatically advancing cleaning tissues, cleaned by a sapphire blade, and magnetically tested. A one MHz signal is electronically written on the tape BETWEEN THE SERVO TRACKS. The tape is read by an in-line, multi-track longintudinal read head to detect any signal absence on the tape, thereby identifying any magnetic defects in the tape. A separate cabinet contains an additional control panel and all of the diagnostic electronics. This operator panel contains separate Threshold and Duration selectors and permits testing the tape edges and center areas. A "Test On/Disable" button is also provided to enable or disable the magnetic testing option. The tape speed remains the same at 200 ips during the testing cycle, and defect locations are stored in RAM for later examination--either on the control panel or on an optional printer. An Erase option is available to permit the operator to erase unwanted date from the tape at a tape speed of 120 ips, WITHOUT DISTURBING THE ALL IMPORTANT SERVO TRACKS which are required to permit the tape to be reused. When the tape is cleaned, certified, and erased, it can be used with the reliability of new tape.

Error Display

• A MPZ display (missing pulse zone) is a single digit LED display which indicates how many missing pulse zones are present (up to 9).
• PASS/FAIL indicator for each cartridge (total of 10) indicates whether tape has passed or failed.
